When my sister-in-law got engaged last year, I was so excited to be able to help her with some of her wedding planning, and mainly, her wedding invitations! Our first order of business was to come up with a color palette that we could use for the invitations and carry onto the wedding celebration. I came up with several palettes for Angela, and after looking them over, she decided on this one

Next I went to work designing her invitations. Angela loves books, so my main inspiration was vintage books.

Tuaregs and their camel-caravans still appear unexpectedly on the horizon before melting into the desert again.

Something lovely happened in those last few days in Paris. I fell in love, I think with a flurry of unexpected details. There was this scent and laughter and kindness and a little silver bangle on a slender wrist. I stepped outside the industrialized and commodified idea of beauty and fashion for a few days. And so this was how I discovered the jewelry work of the Tuareg peoples from the Saharan interior of North Africa. There was so much expressiveness in the minute detail of the metal work that it made me appreciate that the need to create beauty is one of the greatest human instincts.
