Well, thats a wrap for another Philadelphia Collection/Philadelphia Fashion Week procession. Things went out with a bang this past weekend at the Crane Arts building where many young designers and a hand full of lower-than-minor celebs gathered to witnesss the best of the week.

Lower-than-minor celebs included Ginas friend on Martin, a blond lady from Star Trek and some pop star I guess I should have heard of, but, at first glance I thought she was getting her picture taken because of her resemblance to Ru Paul.

After the nineteenth Kanye West disciple gave me a thorough up-and-down and the last stiletto-ed woman hobbled to her seat, the music began. My god, the music.

The daily discrepancies in weather don’t just play havoc with your hair this season (hello permanant frizz!), as your wardrobe takes a trans-seasonal hit of infuriating proportions. 

Torrential downpour at 9am, scorching sunshine at 1pm? Sounds about right for this so-called summer we’re having. A mountain of layers and tights whipped off a lunch has been the unofficial fashion trend of the summer; but beyond the summer dresses and umbrellas is the issue of footwear.

I dont know what you East Coasters have done to incur the wrath of Mother Nature but shes sure lashing out with a wallop, isnt she?

First, she starts your week with a shake, rattle and roll earthquake and now shes planning to unleash her fury with 100-mile-per-hour winds and huge storm surges along the coast.

Since Im of the mind that its better to be safe than sorry, Id be hightailing it out of there and heading for safer ground.

And since Im of the mind that its better to be safe than sorry, I also think that whether you believe Hurricane Irene is a naturally occurring phenomenon or the result of climate change, treating our recent rash of extreme weather occurrences as if climate change is the culprit seems to be the conservative and logical approach.

I guess I dont understand how paying more attention to our impact on the environment and the delicate balance of nature could be a bad thing.

Part of being prepared means accepting responsibility for your own actions.
